I am a professional freelance musician in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. I am a member of the music faculty at the Trinity University of Washington, DC and I have a private music studio in the District.
My method of instruction is traditional, non-Suzuki. In my traditional studio the students learn to read music as well as the technique of the instrument from the very first lesson. The study of music theory and music history as well as an understanding of the musical periods and styles is extremely important and studied during my lessons. Sight reading is also an important part of my lessons and the learning process.
All of my students are required to perform in at least one of the two student recitals. The students will perform with a pianist depending on the music they chose to play. The recitals are given in late January early February and late May early June. Performing is a very important part of the learning process.
All students must have an instrument for the first lesson. Instruments can be either purchased or rented at any local music shop.
I accept children from the ages of seven (7) on through adults, beginners to the advanced performers. I do accept beginner adult as well as the more advanced players.
My private studio is located in NE Washington, DC near the MD PG County line. I am not metro accessible. For lesson rates and available days and times contact Robert Sorel, email: , web site www.sorelmusicstudio.net Tel: 202-529-3615.
